Convention venue: PDP holds emergency NEC meeting

The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has on Friday called for  an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, to iron out issuers surrounding the venue for its national convention.

Recall that the convention was initially billed to hold on October 6 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital but was opposed by some members of the party especially presidential aspirants.

Governor Nysome Wike of Rivers state was not happy with those that kicked against it and issued out some threats if the party takes the venue away from his state.

However, in its bid to find an acceptable place to hold its convention, PDP, through its BoT Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin summoned its National Executive Committee to discuss and finalize the venue for its national convention.

The Board is expected to arrive at the conclusion after its meeting with its members.
