Despite pronouncement by President Mohammadu Buhari that the pump price of fuel be reduced to one hundred and forty naira, the Rivers state Branch of The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has refuted the rumours in some quarters that the pump price of premium motor spirit also known as fuel has been reduced, insisting that it remained N145 per litre.
State chairman of IPMAN, Emmanuel Inimgba who refuted the claims in a statement , maintained that the pump price fuel remains at the government approved price of N145 per litre.
He IPMAN as an association cannot bring about change in petroleum price, stressing that it is the sole responsibility of the Petroleum and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) to do so.
“Product price still remain at the government approved pump price of 145 naira at the filling stations. The dynamics and how the downstream sector operates has to do with PPMC and PPRA, they give directives and there will be a memo to that effect.
“For somebody coming on air saying he is giving directives, IPMAN is an association and by law IPMAN does not have the right to such.
“I’m telling Port Harcourt environs that it is not true, they should disregard such information and directives‘’
