Rivers: Police declares council boss wanted

The Rivers State Police Command has declared the Caretaker Committee Chairman, of Asari Toru local government area, Sogboma Jackrich wanted.

Soboma Jachrich (aka Egberi-Papa) is an ex- Niger Delta warlord and was appointed CTC chairman by the governor, Chief Nyesom Wike last year.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja supervising Saturday’s legislative rerun elections in Rivers State, Sotonye Wakama made the declaration at a meeting with political leaders and security personnels in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

DIG Wakama said the ASALGA CTC boss was declared wanted in connection with arms and ammunitions recovered during a military raid in his residence in Buguma.

Mr. Wakama also disclosed that four suspects that were arrested during the raid in Buguma Community have been charged to Magistrate Court 4 in Port Harcourt on seven count charges.

Meanwhile, lawyer to the ASALGA boss, Tubo Tamuno Dick has condemned the order of arrest issued on his client stressing that the action of the police is politically motivated to intimidate and stop his participation in Saturday’s rerun election.

He pointed out that his client, Sogboma Jackrich before this time has an order from the Court restraining security agencies from arresting him.

“The man in question has a court order restraining them from harassing him. So, we are not disturbed, we will do our elections. If there are any legal issues, we will deal with them after the elections,” Dick said.
