I’m sick not dead, detained Ekiti lawmaker cries out

Contrary to the alarm raised the Ekiti state government that a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Afolabi Akanni, has died in custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, the lawmaker has refuted the claim, but admitted he is sick.

The lawmaker, who was presented to journalist at the DSS headquarters in Abuja said, “I’m not dead. I’m alive, but I’m sick. I have malaria. I have done a test.”

The State House of Assembly member representing Efon-Alaaye Constituency was recently arrested by the operatives of the DSS over sundry allegations.

According to the DSS, Akanni was arrested in relation to issues bordering on the originality of his secondary school certificate and the blockage of Efon Alaaye -Itawure Road, which led to the death of one Modupe Karimu, aka Eleyele, during an alleged attempt to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose by the state lawmakers.
