The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, while briefing State House correspondents on the outcome of a four-hour Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting declared that there is no conclusion yet on the 2016 national budget.

When asked by reporters to provide an insight into the state of the budget, the Minister disclosed talks were still going on.

“On the 2016 budget, we are still talking,” the minister said.

On how long the talks would last, he repeated: “We are still talking.”

The Minister however added that the Council approved a memo on budget monitoring and evaluation mechanism.

According to him, the government intends to ensure that the 2017 budget proposal is presented to the National Assembly on time so that it can be passed early enough.
