Fayose predicts Kogi governor’s removal

By: Our correspondent

Just as the immediate past governor of Kogi State and PDP gubernatorial candidate, Idris Wada expressed hope that the Election Petition Tribunal will return him to power, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has predicted that Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello will soon be thrown out of office.

Fayose made the prediction while delivering a lecture entitled ‘Journalism and Politics : Two Sides of A Coin’ at an event organised by the Oyo state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, to mark the World Press Freedom Day.

He maintained that, “the next thing to happen will be the removal of the Kogi State governor. I have not lost a battle in my life and when I lost one, I came back to win.”

While alleging that many people in the country are scared of speaking the truth, Fayose declared that he would rather die than shy away from the truth.

Meanwhile, Wada who was speaking at a stakeholders meeting organised by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lokoja, said that what happened to the party at last year’s governorship election was as an ‘accident’.

His words, “I believed strongly that the tribunal will vindicate me. I worked hard during campaign, I meant well for the state. During my first time, I adequately sold out our programme for the future to the state and I saw us winning the election.

“But, what happened during the election is best known to God.

“However, I’m sure that the tribunal will do the right thing; all that is left is a matter of time,” he stated.
