Lawyer decries detention of client

A Port Harcourt based legal practitioner, Barrister Innocent Nador has condemned the continued detention, intimidation and torture of his client, Mr. Alali Anthony Godday Tomuno-Emi by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squared (SARS) in Rivers State.

Nador who expressed his worry in a chat with phspectator in Port Harcourt noted that his client was unlawfully arrested by SARS officers on Wednesday May 18th, 2016 at about 2.00am at his residence, adding that his client was arrested along with five others at different locations in suspicion of being involved in a criminal case under investigation which according to him, his client had denied any involvement.

While berating the SARS officers for maltreating his client despite his poor health condition, he alleged that two of the six person arrested have been killed.

He however called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and the State Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo to prevail on the commander of SARS at Rukpokwu to operate within the confines of the law, and charge his client to court or set him free.

He further stated that they have resolved to take legal action against the SARS if it refuses to act according to the law and stop maltreating his client.

Meanwhile, family of the accused person have pleaded for safe and unconditional release of their son.

Mrs. Tamuno Tonye, elder sister to Mr. Alali Tamuno-Emi told phpectator that his brother is innocent of the crime he is being accused of, adding that her brother is not a criminal.
