NPFL Match Day 23 Review: Wikki stay top as Rivers united losses away to Ifeanyi Uba

Wikki Tourists moved three points clear at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after a comfortable 3-1 win over Kano Pillars on Sunday.

This is even as their former joint league leaders, Rivers United lost away to Ifeanyi Uba in Nnewi.

The Bauchi side were tied on 38 points with Rivers United before the encounter, but opened up the gap after winning at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

Emmanuel Edmund gave Pillars the lead, but the home side bounced back through goals from Ibrahim Alhassan who scored twice and Abubakar Lawal.

Rivers United lost by 2-0 to IfeanyiUbah FC in Nnewi, while Enugu Rangers held Niger Tornadoes to a 1-1 draw in Lokoja.

Other results at the weekend saw Shooting Stars ending MFM FC’s unbeaten run at home by beating them 1-0, Abia Warriors defeated Heartland 1-0 in Umuahia while Akwa United won El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in Uyo.
