Long standing rule the Executive and Legislature, particularly the senate, on Tuesday with lawmakers preparing grounds for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
DAILY POST reports that tempers rose as the matter came up during a close door session at the Senate.
All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator from Northern State, who spoke under anonymity told DAILY POST that the session was dominated with issue of Executive recklessness, and its outright disregard to the federal lawmakers.
They were emphatic that President Muhammadu Buhari had serially breached some provisions of constitution, thereby leaving the situation as if the Senate lacked teeth to bite.
Sources also disclosed that, Attorney-General for the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami was at the centre stage of discussion with almost senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of APC sympathetic to Saraki, complaining that the AGF was undermining Nigeria’s democracy by utterly disregarding the senate invitation.
Meanwhile, the Senator Oluremi Tinubu (APC) who could not hold back her feelings was said to have interjected at a point, but was shouted down.
Thereafter, PDP Senators have vowed to consult with Party leaders to see the fruition of the impeachment plan, noting that in the last one year, they had not had taste of peace and harmony in the Senate.
Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP) Edo South Senatorial District openly lashed out at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on floor of the senate on Tuesday, over SGF’s interview in a National Daily that the federal government would not be able to implement Constituency project this year. “It was an impeachable offence since those projects captured in the budget had been passed into law,” he said.
