Accept mass sack or salary cut –Al-Makura tells workers

Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has again asked workers in the state to choose between mass sack and salary cut.

The governor stated this yesterday in Lafia while swearing-in the newly appointed Interim Management Committee (IMC) chairmen of 11 local government areas.

‪Al-Makura asked the organized labour to choose between mass sack to allow implementation for the minimum wage previously enjoyed by workers or receive reduced pay.

While noting that he preferred to pay full salary, ‪Al-Makura explained that government cannot afford to do so due to the economic situation.

“We are faced with the difficult option of paying full salary and stopping all development projects and amenities,” he said.

‪the governor further begged workers to adjust the hard stance and toe the line of reasoning on review of their salaries.
