NPFL Match Day 29 Review: Akwa beats Wikki Tourists as Rangers regain top spot

League contenders, Wikki Tourists have lost the top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after their devastating 3-0 defeat to Akwa United in Uyo on Sunday.

Two goals from Hassan Babangida and one from Friday Ubong gave the Promise Keepers the three points in the match.

With this loss, Wikki dropped to second place with 47 points from 28 matches.

Meanwhile, Enugu Rangers of Enugu went back on top of the league, despite drawing 1-1 with champions Enyimba at the Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

In other matches, Niger Tornadoes came from behind to beat Abia Warriors 2-1 in Lokoja, Sunshine Stars lost 2-1 to Shooting Stars while FC Ifeanyi Ubah recorded their first ever win over Kano Pillars with a 2-1 victory in Nnewi.

Lobi Stars in their game defeated Warri Wolves 3-0 while Kabiru Umar scored the winner as Plateau United won 1-0 against MFM FC in Lagos.
