I will play as a winger – Walcott

By: Felix Ikpotor

Arsenal’s Theo Walcott has told his manager, Arsene Wenger, that he is willing to return to the right wing, after failing to nail down his feet in his preferred striking position.

The player has failed to impress when given the chance, with Wenger largely using Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck upfront last season.

But, Frenchman is still looking to sign Lacazette from Lyon, to boost his attacking options, leaving Walcott with no choice but to seek a return his traditional wing position.

“I want to make my position on the right – that’s where I know where I am now. I’ve told the manager that I want to be known for playing on the right again, although I can play up front,” he said.

Walcott has scored 85 goals in 334 appearances for Arsenal.

He further said, “I want to know where I want to play. The manager has said I can play up front. It depends on what game it is. I know I can do a job up front as well as on the right.”
