Police interrogates Benue Commissioner over killing of lecturer

The Police in Benue State have questioned the State Commissioner of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sekav Iortyom, over the murder of a lecturer at the University of Mkar, Gboko.

Unknown gunmen about three weeks ago killed Wilfred Tersoo Tondo at his official residence within the University of Mkar in Gboko local government area.

Tondo, a chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was shot around 4am while observing a Christian morning prayer with members of his family, thereby, fueling suspicion that his death was politically motivated.

The interrogation of the commissioner, it was learnt may not be unconnected with allegation that he was not in good terms with the deceased, who was said to have been a preferred candidate of power brokers in the Buruku area, where both hailed from, against the commissioner’s favourite candidate.

The State commissioner of police, Bashir Makama did not state the reason for the invitation, but insisted that the commissioner was neither arrested nor detained.
