NPFL: Angry fans manhandles referees

Match officials in charge of Abia Warrior’s game against Ifeanyi Ubah FC in Umuahia, were allegedly beaten up by angry home supporters after the game yesterday.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture ended 1-1.

An eyewitness told AfricanFootball that: “The match officials were beaten black and blue and suffered injuries after they were attacked immediately after the game.”

Ago Abubakar was the centre referee for the match while his assistants were Tope Orowole and Sule Jimeta, while Ogunta Matador was the fourth referee.

The match was shifted from the weekend to Wednesday, following inspection from the League Management Company (LMC).
