We have not released Kabiru Sokoto – Prison spokesman

The Nigerian Prisons Service has denied allegations that President Muhammadu Buhari has freed Kabiru Sokoto who mastermind 2011 Christmas Day bombing on St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla near Abuja that left about 40 people dead.

The reports on several social Medias over the weekend, alleging that President Buhari had freed the suspected bomber as part of a purported prisoner swap deal between the Federal Government and the Boko Haram sect.

Reacting in a statement, prisons spokesperson, Biyi Jeje, said, “Please disregard the rumour. He’s still in prisons custody.”

Recall that Dikko, controversially known as Kabiru Sokoto, was convicted in December 2013 after being found guilty of plotting the car suicide bombing on St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, near Abuja.
