Two mobile policemen are feared killed in a shootout with unknown gunmen around Omoku town in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
DAILY POST gathered from a source close to Omoku town that two other mobile policemen in the team sustained bullet wounds during shootout encounter with the criminals at a construction site along Ikiri Road.
An engineer working at the site, who identified himself as Uche Isiodu, narrated his experience in a telephone interview with DAILY POST.
According to Isiodu, “When we were inside, we started hearing sporadic gunshots so all of began to scamper for safety and ran into a nearby bush.
“After some time, we returned and heard that some two MOPOL were gunned-down and they (the gunmen) took their guns.
“We also found that two other MOPOLs were wounded and the rest ran away.”
Rivers State Police Command, through its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni has confirmed the incident.
He said the Divisional Police Officer at Omoku will send in a report on the shootout.
