Delta State: Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh disturbs as military storm the communities in search for militants

Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities in Udu and Warri South-West Local Government Areas of Delta State worried as soldiers stormed the areas to search for Niger Delta Militants.

As both communities, Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh have continued engaged in crisis between lands disput after a security meeting convened by the Delta State Government failed to settle the matter.

Residents said they have been started packing out of the communities as a result of the military presence and for fear of intimidation, harassment and brutalization.

Information had it that some militants who had threatened to declare “Niger Delta Republic” on October 1 had earmarked Ogbe-Ijoh Community as one of the possible places to launch the declaration.

A report said it that a Joint Patrol of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Airforce and Police were seen around Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Communities on October 1 at about 10am.

Our correspondent gathered that the crisis between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities has taken new dimensions, which were resulted of an alleged invasion of Aladja Community by some armed youths from Ogbe-Ijoh on Friday June 3.

An indigene of Aladja Community, Mr. Ighotegulor Bezi, who spoke with correspondent, accused the Delta State Government who was represented by one Prof. Abednego Ekokotu, Chairman of Panel on alleged apportion of said land’s disput that largely expanse to Aladja

Mr. Bezi appealed to Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to mandate Prof. Abednego Ekokotu to return and complete his job which is including demarcation, delineation and survey, in the interest of peace.
