Anti-Grazing Law: Fayose arrests in Ekiti

In his determination to implement the Anti-Grazing Law passed in the state, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ehiti State Wednesday, on his way to Ikole Ekiti personally chased herdsmen along Afao Ekiti road, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state.

The governor demonstrated the seriousness of the law by personally seeing to it that one of the cows was “arrested” by youths who chased the cows after the herdsmen ran into the bush upon seeing the governor’s security men.

it would be recalled that in May 2016, Governor Ayodele Fayose banned grazing and rearing of cattle in the state, saying those interested in cattle farming should get their own private cattle ranch.

On 26thh of August, The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill that prohibits free animal grazing within the state

The governor, who became the first ever state executive to take such a drastic measure in the country, also said a bill to make the movement of cattle from one location to another criminal in the state

Ekiti Grazing Enforcement Marshall (EGEM) will start work in few days time.
