Cattle rustlers kill six in Niger community raid

Reports say no fewer than six persons have been killed in an attack by suspected cattle rustlers in Kukoki community, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger.

The Council’s Chairman, Mr. Mark Jagaba, confirmed the incidence to newsmen, yesterday, in Minna, adding that the attack lasted for about four hours.

According to the council boss, four Fulani and two Gbagyi were killed, while several women and children were injured.

Jagaba said the cattle rustlers stole over 700 cattle and undisclosed number of goats and sheep before fleeing the community, adding that normalcy has returned to the area.

Confirming the attack, DSP, Bala Elkana, the Police Public Relations Officer, said that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime, while efforts were on to get the others who are currently at large.

He said the command was yet to ascertain the actual number of cattle rustled by the attackers.
