Ondo 2016: PDP supporters protest, calls for postponement of Saturday poll

…As PDP senator defects to APC

Hundreds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Monday morning protested to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in the state, and calling for the postponement of this Saturday governorship elections.

The angry PDP supporters are calling on the commission to shift the election by two-weeks.

Meanwhile,  with just six days to the conduct of the governorship election in the state, the senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Mr. Yele Omogunwa, has reportedly dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Although the senator had not formally announced his decision, it was gathered that the lawmaker made his intention known to his supporters in Ode Irele, the headquarters of the Irele Local Government Area of the state on Sunday evening.

It was also gathered that the defection of the senator was not unconnected with the ongoing factional crisis rocking the party.
