Mass defection hits Kogi APC as over 100 youths decamp to PDP

The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State has suffered a major setback as over a hundred youths have reportedly defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ofu local government area of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors in Agojoeju, Iboko /Efakwu Ward in Ofu local government, the leader of the group, Marvis said their decision to join the opposition party is as a result of failed promises of the APC led government at all levels.

“We are set to work in line with the PDP directives in re-positioning the party towards winning the subsequent elections,” he said.

At the ceremony held at the party office in Agojoeju Iboko/Efakwu ward, the local government Chairman of the PDP, Hon Wajah Idris Attabo described the defection as the end of APC in the ward and local government in general.

He  promised to give all members equal right and level playing field to achieve their desires.

Receiving the defectors, the member representing Ofu constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Dr. Friday Alih, thanked them for their bold steps and urged them to keep faith with the party as measures are been taken to resolve the national crisis rocking the party within the shortest time in the overall interest of Nigerians.
