As the sports community in Rivers State is still jubilating over the promotion of Go-Round Football Club of Omoku into the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), the President/Sole Sponsor of the club, Bro. Felix Obuah has said the achievement was made possible following the overwhelming supports from the State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Obuah in a statement, Monday, after  Go-Round FC over the weekend handed down a 4-nil victory to First Bank of Lagos in the last day of the Nigerian National Football League (Southern Conference) to gain promotion to the elites league, said  Wike’s passion for the development of Sports in the State, provided the tonic that motivated the boys to move to the topflight of the nation’s soccer.

The Go-Round President/Sponsor who is also the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the development was coming in the wake of plans by the governor  to set up a Football Academy in the state that will be affiliated to Real Madrid FC of Spain.

He lauded the Governor for the moral and financial support which has greatly enhanced the wellbeing of sporting clubs like Rivers United FC, Rivers Angels FC, Rivers Hoopers Basket Club, as well as numerous athletes who represent the State in various capacities.

Bro. Obuah described Governor Wike as a source of inspiration to footballers and lovers of sports in the State, hoping that his administration would attract more sporting glories to the State.

While assuring that Go-Round FC would not let the State down, as it settles down to prosecute the professional league campaign for the next season

Obuah who is also the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency , RIWAMA,   thanked soccer fans, particularly those in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) who throng the ultra modern Krisdera Football Stadium, Omoku, to cheer the boys into victory on match days.

His words:“I also want to assure our Golden Governor and ‘Mr. Projects’, that Go-Round Football Club would enter the elite Professional Football League with the same strength, determination and winning mentality; not as minors but as titans”.

The sports administrator promised that the team would do its best to reciprocate the numerous supports by Governor Wike, adding that one good turn deserves another.
