Another community leader killed in Plateau

Gunmen shot another community chief leader dead in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State Sunday night.

This is the fifth murder of a title holder in the locality in almost 2 years.

The latest incident involves the Madakin Garam, Tarangol village, Amos Marit.

Hw was said to have been trailed to his house in Fakkos village and shot by the yet to be identified persons.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mathias Tyopev, who confirmed the incident to newsmen said investigation is ongoing to fish out the perpetrators.

“Yes, it happened. Two of the man’s relative came to the Station and reported that around 8.35pm on Sunday, some people broke into his house and he was shot at the back and the people ran away.

“The relative took him to a hospital there in Bokkos where he died in the process of receiving treatment.

“The area is peaceful as we speak but investigation is on to ascertain those behind the dastardly act,” Tyopev said.
