2019: Northern youths, women give reason why Buhari will lose if he contests

Some groups under the aegis of Northern Coalition of Concerned Youths and Women Coalition have warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-contest in 2019.

They said the president has performed poorly and should leave office honourably next year or face defeat.

Speaking at the NUJ press centre on Sunday in Kano, Chairman of the Coalition Groups, Comrade Abdulmajeed Babangida Sa’ad, lamented that Buhari’s last three years in office has not shown signs of direction.

He said: “The coalition out of patriotism and zeal for purposeful drive to posterity wish to ask Mr. President to honourably shun calls by sycophants and mischievous politicians who are bent on continued self serving ego which is detrimental to the diverse interest of the teeming populace”.

“From what we have seen over the last three years, we are convinced there are no concrete groundswell of hope that President Buhari has the capacity to delivered on good governance when given the second chance.

“This government has failed. The issue of security goes beyond insurgency; you have unemployment, no basic and effective health system, education is collapsing, and all these are elements that have direct bearing to the security.

“The way people perceive security is very narrow; they should look at security beyond insurgency, and to put into consideration the kidnapping, farmers/herdsmen clash, ethnic clashes and religious tension”.

Noting that the coalition was speaking on behalf of a good number of youths and women in the North, Babangida Sa’ad said, “a large number of in this coalition are registered with Corporate affairs, and are recognized by the law.”

“Many others are pressure groups and are equally recognized by law because of the section of the Constitution that recognize freedom of association.

“Most of us here we fought for the actualization of this government. We played our part in bringing it to power and now we discovered it is performing below our expectation. This administration has no blueprint or programmes to deliver Nigerians from the problems they are in.

“It is obvious that there a lot of contradictions from their claims. There is evidence of cluelessness in this government and we cannot continue to wait and expect positive results.”
