2019: Name of Imo APC governorship candidate missing as INEC releases 67 names

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has published the names of governorship candidates for the 2019 elections.

However, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo state was missing on on the list  published on Friday.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emeka Ihedioha and 66 others were on the list, while that of the APC was seen missing.

There has been serious battle for the sole ticket of the party between Uche Nwosu, a former Chief of Staff of the state governor, Rochas Okorocha and Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole has been in the middle of the battle as Okorocha insisted on the emergence of his son-in-law as the governorship candidate for APC.

Oshiomhole has, however, recognised Senator Uzodinma as the candidate after the court recognized him as the authentic flag-bearer of the party.

However, there was another court order restraining INEC from publishing any name from Imo State chapter of the APC.

INEC’s decision to omit the name of APC candidate from the state maybe in compliance with the court order.
