Rivers: Man kills lover, buries her in his room

One Mr. Ndemaa Owabia popularly known as J Boy is currently cooling-off in the custody of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly killing and burying his girlfriend of seven years, one Miss Ozigie Nwaobueze in his apartment.

The suspect was arrested by the police after an official complain by his brothers that he killed his girlfriend for allegedly cheating on him.

The police found a newly covered hole in the suspect’s room on Wednesday during a search.

The suspect, Owabia hails from Rumuopirikom in Obio/ Akpor local government area  while the victim, Miss Nwaobueze is from Emohua local government area, all in Rivers State.

The incident we gathered  occurred on November 19, 2018.

Sister to the deceased, Oluchi Nwaobueze who narrated the incidence to PHSpectator said she received a distress phone call from her late sister on Sunday.

“ That day J boy called my sister to come and collect money for burial wrapper that same day, my sister called one of my friends on the phone and screaming that J Boy has killed her”.

“ I thought it was a joke but after two to three days when I didn’t see my sister, I called J Boy he refused taking my calls after which he said my sister was in the hospital but after investigation and I also travelled home, I had to report to the police that my sister was missing”.

Another relative of the girl, Okachi Nwaobueze also confirmed that J Boy had physically assaulted her sometime ago and may have killed her after accusing her of cheating on him.

Sources within the community told our correspondent that the suspect who is known for maltreating his girlfriends has three children from a previous relationship, before they separated.

Meanwhile, the body of the victim has been exhumed by the police for autopsy and further investigation.

Confirming the incidence, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni said the suspect is being interrogated by the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.

When our correspondent visited the area, he reported that residence of the compound have deserted the area for fear of being arrested by the police.
