PDP tells IGP to probe police atrocities in Rivers elections

Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the  acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, to probe the alleged misconducts of his men during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the state.

The party urged ther IGP to emeulate  the Nigerian Army .

Rivers PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah who stated this while reacting to the report by the Independent National Electoral Committee, INEC Panel on Rivers State election said: “We commend the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai for inaugurating the Major Gen T.A Gagariga led committee to investigate allegations of misconduct, including assassination attempt on Governor Nyeson Wike by soldiers over 2019 general election.

“We call on the IGP, Adamu to institute a similar panel to probe involvement of the Rivers State FSARS and its gang of police operatives in organised invasion of polling units as one of the alleged victims of the SARS shouting, Dr. Ferry Gberege, a lecturer at the Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic has died of gunshot wound.”

He  said the PDP had accepted March 15, position of INEC regarding the elections in Rivers as a substantial representation of the true state of the electoral process before the suspension.
