PH Spectator replies Chidi Lloyd

The management of a Port Harcourt based tabloid, Port Harcourt Spectator Newspaper has reacted to  a statement credited to one Dr. Chidi Lloyd that the newspaper has  failed, describing it as false.

Lloyd is the Director of the Tonye Cole Campaign Organisation in Rivers State.

The newspaper also chided Mr Lloyd for attempting to smear the image of its Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Parry Saroh Benson.

The tabloid in a statement signed by Mr. Edem Eyo Edem on behalf of the management warned Chidi Lloyd to desist from abusing the office of the Publisher of the newspaper.

Here is the statement in full:

The attention of the management,  staff and editorial board of The Port Harcourt Spectator Newspaper, one of the leading local tabloids east of the Niger has been drawn to an insidious article by one Dr. Chidi Lloyd written against our Publisher and Editor -in- Chief,  Parry Saroh Benson (ANIPR).

We are not surprised at Lloyd’s rants and insinuations which in a sense underscores his  inability to deal with a battered image and the baggage he is carrying. So such hogwash coming from a man suffering from issues of integrity is not surprising despite his academic achievements.

First, it is pertinent to inform Dr. Lloyd that no spokesperson that knows his job dishes out any writen statement or speaks on an issue concerning his principal without his express approval.

To have quickly tendered an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari over the insults and jabs he poured out in an apparent state of frustration lends credence to Senator Magnus Abe’s stance that Lloyd was truly  abusing the President.

Can Dr. Lloyd tell Rivers people and indeed Nigerians the companies he owned and businesses he was engaged- in, where he earned a living, made millions of Naira before venturing into politics?

How dare he describe an entrepreneur of no mean standing, Mr. Parry Saroh Benson who has paid his dues in business and journalism over the last two decades as having failed!

Chidi Lloyd’s lifestyle cannot help but make him more confused until he is able to mend his ways going forward.

If he must know, Senator Abe has no stake in the Port Harcourt Spectator Newspaper and does not control the editorial content of the medium.

The Port Harcourt Spectator is not a failed tabloid like Lloyd claimed. We do not know his parameter for judging it as such.

The Newspaper aside been registered with the  Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the National library in  Nigeria, where the ISBN Number which gives legal backing to a newspaper is generated, has met all tenets of responsible journalism since it hit the news stand on the 17th of August 2000.

This Newspaper has consistently been in circulation every week till date and maintained an active online presence on www.phspectator.com in addition to a large readership.

It is crystal clear that he is bereft, obviously ignorant of the modus operandi and workings of a newspaper production.

Finally, we want to warn Mr. Lloyd to take his dirty politics elswhere away from The Port Harcourt Spectator Newspaper.

What a macabre dance by Chidi Lloyd!

Mr. Eyo Edem Eyo
