Call your attack dog to order, group tells Amaechi

Irked by the spate of statements by one Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, a self styled All Progressives Congress, APC, stalwart in Rivers State alleging plots by Senator Magnus Abe and Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to stop the confirmation of former transportation minister and ministerial designate, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from being confirmed as a minister by the National Assembly, a group known as Rivers Network for Positive Change is now urging Amaechi to call Chief Eze to order.

The group in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Ibezim Green Ogbuleka said the call became necessary for peace to reign in Rivers State.

It added that the said Eze is not an indigene of Rivers State, hence his interest in causing disaffection amongst brothers.

Here is the statement in full:

Our attention has been drawn to two recent publications by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze titled: ‘Anti Amaechi plot: Wike, Abe Take Battle to the senate, Circulate Cooked Documents, Recruit senator Sekibo and ‘SP Lawan’s maturity makes nonsense of Wike, Abe’s N2bn defamation project on Amaechi’.

Ordinarily as stated in several fora, it would have been needless responding to Chief Eze’s endless ranting and spurious allegations now or in the future. The reason is that he (Eze) is a man bereft of ideas. It is only reasonable to address the sponsored campaign of calumny and blackmail that he has continuously mounted against the distinguished Senator Magnus Abe; especially knowing where such attacks are emanating from.

The only reason we are writing this is to publicly tell the former Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi to urgently call Chief Eze to order because he knows for a fact that everything Eze said and has been saying are not only false but a figment of his imagination and unfortunately being bankrolled by himself (Amaechi).

We say this not because we have no confidence in the ability of our lawyers to approach the courts and deal with this matter appropriately but because we strongly believe that our dear State (Rivers) deserves some peace.

Without being sentimental, Chief Eze is neither from Rivers nor resides in the State. It does seem that he has everything to gain from any form of crisis amongst brothers’ rather than something to lose. Therefore, the time has come to do an introspection and allow reason to prevail. Discretion, they say is the better part of valour.

For the umpteenth time, we say this in the interest of the general public, especially those who may read this write up, that Senator Abe is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has never, and never been involved in any anti-party activities because not only is it dishonorable to do so, but outright dishonest to contemplate such.

Recall that since he left the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), he had never been found to be in a secret touch with Governor Wike or anyone in an opposition party for the purpose of plotting against anyone or try to pull down anyone for whatever reason.

The senator’s disagreement with Rt. Hon. Amaechi is strictly on issues and the point of difference is an open book. It remains essentially the need to do things right and secure the best results for our party in Rivers State. We believe that his (Amaechi’s) views to some of these issues are in the public domain.

Abe never bought guns, armed youths or pursued any matter in court in a do-or-die manner as Chief Eze alleges, rather he pursued his case to a logical conclusion and accepted the final outcome of that judicial pronouncements as it were.

He is a committed member of the APC and his support for President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC in the 2019 general elections were to date undeniable. His billboards clearly attest to this and other leaders of the party equally mobilized supporters across the entire state for our party and the votes the president garnered from Rivers State was very encouraging when compared to the 2015 poll.

Having demonstrated such confidence in Mr. President it will be unthinkable, indeed foolhardy that he will now make a detour and start fighting the ministerial nominee even before they were made public.

He had severally solicited public support for the President to deliver the dividends of democracy which he promised the people as well as attract investment to the nation and the needed development.

Or, is Eze simply passing the buck in a way that his principal Rt. Hon Amaechi has spent over N2Bn on the ‘stop Abe campaign’ from emerging gubernatorial flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State in the just concluded 2019 general elections and now to physically and politically destroy him?

Is it the same Eze who described Senator Sekibo as ‘Wike, Abe’s recruit’ turned around to commend the Senator because Sekibo demonstrated the true Rivers politics without bitterness which Eze and his paymaster cannot afford because of bigotry and self-aggrandizement?

Amaechi should have known by now that you do not need to pull down anybody in order to move forward in life, therefore, it is expedient that he should call his attack dog, Eze to order. What we need in Rivers State now is peace and development. Conversely what the APC family in Rivers State needs now, more than anything else is unity, peace, and respect for all members. Nothing else!
