RSU Shootings: Didia under fire as Wike issues 24 hours query

Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Professor Blessing Didia is asid to be under intense pressure from his boss the governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, following the killing of a final year student at the school on Monday.

Wike on Tuesday issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Vice Chancellor  to respond to a query over the shooting incidents in the university campus.

Students and lecturers abandoned their exams and fled to safety on Tuesday morning after gunmen suspected to be cultists shot sporadically on campus.

The Tuesday incident followed the killing of a final year student in the department of agriculture, Prince Tuaka, on Monday after his final year exams.

Prince Tuaka, from Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State was gunned down by suspected cultists in front of a female hostel.

The  slain student was said to be a cultist.

Cultists said to be on a reprisal had invaded the school on Tuesday but fled upon the intervention of military personnel.

At the time of this report it is not clear whether the VC has responded to the query.

Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers Police Command’s Spokesman  said that the command is investigating the matter.
