Local Vigilante Group, ROSPAC kill over 20 Cultists in Rivers Community

No fewer than 20 suspected cultists terrorizing Rundele and Odegu Communities in Emohua local government area of Rivers state have been reportedly killed by a local vigilante group, Rundele-Odegu Security & Peace Advisory Council, ROSPAC.

Port Harcourt Spectator authoritatively gathered that the security group in her week long operation in Rundele community (from Tuesday last week) had killed at least 20 suspected Deegbam cultists terrorizing the area while other cultists sustained several life-threatening injuries.

A community source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the suspected Deegbam cultists had earlier engaged the security group in a shootout before burning their houses and that of some chiefs.

Our source also disclosed that leader of the cultists popularly known as “Ekueme” was still on the run.

He said, “I must commend the ROSPAC for their works. With this development, peace is gradually returning back to Rundele and Odegu communities.

“Our image have been dented before the state and the world as a result of the their activities especially the incessant kidnapping along the East-West.

“For some months now, our people have been living in perpetual fear, kidnapped at random and sleeping with one eye open. But for one week now, since Tuesday last week, we have started sleeping well.

He further noted that several houses belonging to the cultists were also burnt.

ROSPAC, we learnt was set up to stamp out cultism and criminality in the area which has resulted in incessant robbery, kidnapping and killings along the Elele-Rundele-Rumuji-Emohua axis of the East-West Road.
