COVID-19: Okenna charges Christians to prayer for God’s intervention

As more measures are being taken to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic which has caused so much panic in the world, Christians across the globe and religious leaders as well as government at all levels have been urged to seek the face of God in prayers.

General Overseer of Christ the Life Bible International Church, Prophet E. S. Okenna gave the advice while reacting to the rising cases of Covid-19 on Sunday at his church at Omuanwa in Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers State.

Okenna who commended measures taken by the government to curtail the spread of the virus said only God has the solution to the disease.

“I commend the governments for steps taken so far to stop the spread of the coronavirus. All these steps are right but it’s only God that has the final solution to the coronavirus pandemic so we need Him at this time” he said.

He added: “Let all religious leaders and Christians all over the world as well as government at all levels return back to God and seek His face in prayers. The end of man’s effort is the beginning of God. Where man gets tired, God begins there. The world need to go back to God in prayers and ask for His mercy and intervention,” .

On the total shutdown of markets in Rivers State and other parts of the country, the clergy advised the government to create a makeshift market to avert starvation and hunger in the land.

He  said, “the people are already feeling the effect of total shutdown of markets by government. While I agree with this as a move to avoid further spread of the virus, I plead with the government to create a makeshift market where residents could buy food items before our people will die of hunger”.

He however, called on Rivers residents and the world at large to remain calm as the coronavirus will only last for a while.
