Ex-Attorney General accuses Cross Rivers Governor of incompetence

Former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Cross River State, Mr. Eyo Ekpo has said that Governor Ben Ayade has been shedding crocodile tears to cover up his ineptitude.

Governor Ayade broke down in tears last week at the inauguration of an anti-tax agency headed by Bishop Emma Isong.

The governor expressed regret that in five years of his administration from 2015, despite ample preparation and enthusiasm, he has not been able to wipe the pains, suffering, and abject poverty among people of the state.

But Mr. Eyo Ekpo, who was former SDP gubernatorial candidate, however, said that in five years, the governor has been extravagant with state resources.

In a statement on Monday in Calabar, Ekpo wondered what exactly the governor was weeping for, saying they have seen his incessant ‘film show’ of shedding tears in 5 years which has become somewhat childish.

Ekpo said, “Five years down the road, I am no longer impressed with his insincere tears. Are those tears for real?

“I wonder how the governor’s tears square up with the 5 years of pursuing grandiose projects that he knows would never be financed. He still went ahead to award consulting contracts, land clearing contracts that deprived the same people for whom he’s shedding hot years. Rather than care for them, he spent money that should have gone into education and valuable sectors like health.”
