The protest is at the instance of Chief Kamakolom Nwanuo, the Ugwumba 1 of Igboh Kingdom, Etche Local Government Area.

According to a public statement issued by the traditional ruler, the protest would involve men, women, youths and children from the LGA.

He said the deplorable roads have caused the underdevelopment of the land and untold hardship to the citizens of the area and those who ply the road for their daily businesses.

Also, the Rivers State Police Command and other security agencies have been put on notice about the protest.

A copy of the letter which was sighted by this weekly, signed by Eze  Nwanuo and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, assured that all  COVID-19 protocols would be observed during the demonstration.

Nwanuo in the letter said the people have exhausted all avenues to call attention of relevant authorities to the sorry state of their roads.

He appealed to the security agencies to deploy their men to monitor the demonstration so that it won’t be hijacked by hoodlums.
