NAOWA trains 25 in skills, donate empowerment equipment in Rivers

The Nigerian Army Officer’s Wives Association (NAOWA), Elele Barracks have donated starter packs to 25 members trained in various skills.

Chairperson of NAOWA, 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, chapter, Mrs. Olayemi Irefin while making the donation at a graduation ceremony at Umma-Kalsum Tukur Burutai/NAOWA Vocational Training Center, Elele Barracks, Rivers State commended NAOWA for making a bold step in not only training them but also providing them with starter packages.

Mrs Irefin, represented at the event by Mrs. Chinelo Koughna described the move as a welcomed development and called on other areas and divisions to follow suit.

NAOWA Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Imabong Essien congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to make judicious use of the skills to add value to their lives.

“I want to advice you all to be passionate about the skills you have acquired today.

“It is an addition to your lives and you can use the training to get to any level in life”.

Earlier in her remark, the Area Rep, NAOWA Elele Barracks and host, Mrs. Adebimpe Abimbola said the 25 beneficiaries of the 4th graduation ceremony which included; 6 widows, women and youths were trained in Information Communication Technology, ICT, hair dressing, catering services and fashion and designing.

Abimbola stated that the program was aimed at addressing poverty through education and training of vulnerable and marginalize group like women and children in the barracks to acquire skills to improve their family living condition.

She commended the wife of the Chief of Army staff for her exemplary leadership and providing opportunity and conducive environment and improving lives of officers wives & barracks community.

Starter packages such as sewing machines, catering machines and hair dryers were presented to the beneficiaries.
