Rivers State governor Gov. Nyesom Wike has commended the minister of state for petroleum and leader of All progressive Congress in Bayelsa State Chief Timipre Sylva for placing love for his state against partisan politics.

In a live radio interview monitored in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital yesterday morning, governor Wike said Sylva has showed great statemanship by first thinking of the well being of the state rather than politicize development.

He further said if other Rivers son serving in the federal government of President Muhamadu buhari will toe the path of Sylva, Rivers State will be better off.

His words: ” if others who are serving in that same cabinet will think like Sylva we will not be where we are today. All they do is to block development from coming to their state because I am the governor forgetting that I  will not be governor forever. When they finish serving, Rivers people will ask them what they brought to the state when they were there. I personally brought the law faculty in University of Port Harcourt as a serving minister but they sit in Abuja and all they do is to fight me”

Governor Wike praised Sylva for not letting what happened in February this year to deter his love for his state.

His words: ” Sylva brought David Lyon who was to be sworn in on the 14th of February but on the 13th less that 24 hours to the inuaguration the supreme Court sacked Lion. That alone would have dampened his resolve but it never did. He is just few months in the cabinet but look at what he has achieved unlike others who have stayed for more than five years and nothing to show for being there for that long”

The governor and the minister of transportation, Chibuike Amaechi have been having running battle and he has severally accused the minister of not attracting any development to the state.
