Governors laud IGP for banning FSARS

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, on Monday commended Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police for banning the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad and other Tactical Squads of the force from routine patrols.

The governors in a statement titled “NGF Commends IGP on FSARS Ban,” and signed by the Chairman of the NGF, Governor Kayode Fayemi, which was made available to newsmen in Abuja, said, “The Nigeria Governors’ Forum received with great relief and satisfaction the decision by the Inspector-General of Police, M.A. Adamu, to ban with immediate effect the operations of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad and a range of other tactical squads of the Force.

“We also completely agree with the directive of the IGP that ‘no personnel of the Force is authorised to embark on patrols or tactical assignments in mufti’ forthwith.”
