Kidnapped Rivers lawyer regains freedom

A Lawyer, Bisola Paulette Ajayi who was kidnapped last weekend has reportedly regained freedom.

It was gathered that Bisola was rescued by the anti-kidnapping unit of the Rivers State Police Command led by DSP Adewale.

DSP Adewale, it was gathered led his men to a forest in Etche Local Government Area of the state where the kidnappers were hiding. Two suspects and an arm-dealer were arrested.

The twenty-five-year-old Laywer, Bisola Ajayi, fondly called was abducted on Saturday night from her residence at the Rumukwurusi area of Obio-Akpor by gunmen who dressed in military uniforms.

Earlier, the State Police Commissioner, Joseph Mukan had said the command had identified those responsible for the act.

confirming the release, Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni in a statement said, “Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in a Sting Operation last night 7/10/2020 at about 2130hrs, stormed the forest at Okomoko in Etche LGA where Barrister (Miss) Paulette Bisola Ajayi who was abducted on 04/10/2020 at her residence in Rumuokwurushi was rescued. She was freed along with one Paul Nyulaku ‘m’ of British High Commission, Abuja. He was kidnapped on 04/10/2020 at NTA Road, Mgbuoba”.

“In the wake of the operation, one of the kidnappers, Chinedu Chigbu ‘m’ aged 39 who was keeping watch over them was arrested while one other was fatally wounded in the exchange of gunfire. He was taken to the hospital where he was confirmed dead while other escaped into the bush with gunshot wounds. Their camp was immediately destroyed. Exhibits recovered from them include one AK47 rifle, a fully loaded magazine and one hundred (100) rounds of live ammunition. Efforts are on to arrest other members of the gang”.

“The public particularly residents of Etche and Eberi-Omuma LGAs are hereby enjoined to increase their security consciousness and report anybody with gunshot wounds to the nearest Police Station”.
