End SARS: Adeyanju, Falz slam Wike for banning protest

By: Admin

Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, and singer, Folarin Falana, aka Falz, have condemned the ban on peaceful protest by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Recall that Wike in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications in the State, on Monday banned the EndSARS protest which is to take place, today, Tuesday October 13, 2020.

According to him, the decision to ban the proposed protest follows the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad by the Inspector General of Police.

But reacting, Adeyanju said public officers cannot determine citizen’s right.

He tweeted, “Nobody can ban protest in any state or in any part of Nigeria.

“Public officials don’t get to determine citizens’ rights. #SARSMUSTEND.”

Also, Falz wrote, “Who are you to prevent any individual from exercising their constitutional right to move and assemble peacefully?”,

However, youths in Port Harcourt, Tuesday morning, defied the ban as they matched through the popular Port Harcourt/Aba Road to the police headquarters on Moscow Road calling for an end to police brutality, Justice for Sleek and the Chima Ikwunado
