Wike reopens Ikokwu spare parts market

By: Felix Ikpotor

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has approved the re-opening of the Ikokwu spare parts market weeks after it was closed down following the #Endsars protest in Port Harcourt.

Suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, took over the market burning tires and also attacked security officers leading to the closure of the market by the state government.

The reopening of the market is said to be a fallout of the recent meeting between the state governor, South East Governors’ Forum and the Igbo Community in the state.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim on Thursday, confirmed the reopening of the market but  however, said security agencies will still remain in the area until further notice.
