UNIPORT Senate elects Okodudu as acting VC for another 6 months

Senate of the University of Port Harcourt on Monday, elected Professor Steve Okodudu to serve as acting Vice-chancellor for a period of six months.

Okodudu’s was earlier appointed by the minister of education to oversee the affairs of the institution in June 2020 and his tenure expired in December.

The Federal Ministry of Education had through the secretary of the National University Commission, NUC, directed the Senate of the institution to elect another acting Vice-chancellor pending the composition of the University’s Council.

Among the contestants for the position include Professors Regina Ogali and Fawhemi.

Professor Okodudu however, emerged victorious with a slim margin and was returned as the acting VC for another term of six months.
