Youths protest, block roads in Port-Harcourt over adoption of CDC chairman, others

Youths of Rumuolumeni Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday, laid a heavy blockade against all vehicular movements in and out of Rumuolumeni Community in protest against alleged forceful abduction of the Community Development Council (CDC) chairman, Barrister Ikechi Williams, his vice, Rumuolumeni Employment Bureau Chairman, Comrade Noble Nnamdi Orluogele,  and two others by the commanding officer of the Nigeria Navy Ship Pathfinder.

The said persons  were said to have been arrested yesterday at Rumuolumeni Community Town Hall.

The youths also demanded explanations behind the reasons why a Multinational Oil Company in the area known as Ocean Marine Solutions harbored by NNS Pathfinder which has been operational for over 20yrs all of a sudden started employing mostly the Hausa-Fulanis and neglecting community youths.

The angry youths said they demanding for employment chances before the commanding officer of the Nigeria Navy Ship Pathfinder  sent his men who came and whisked away the CDC chairman and others to an unknown destination.

The youths are hereby demanding that until those adopted by the commanding officers are released, no movement of vehicles would be allowed in and out of the community.

The barricade made it impassable for over 50 petroleum tankers and motorist plying the busy road.
