N78b FG refund: Use part of it to construct Horo-Gbene-ue-Botem road, youth leader tells Wike

By: Felix Ikpotor

Following the receipt of N78 billion refund from the Federal Government by the Rivers State Government, a youth leader in the state, Comrade Dimkpa Kingsley is now appealing to the governor, Nyesom Wike to use part of the money to construct the  Horo-Gbene-ue-Botem internal road in Tai Local Government Area.

Dimkpa who is the Coordinator of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Tai Chapter lamented that the road has not been constructed since the inception of the community, adding that the area is usually cut-off from the rest of the communities during the rainy season.

Our joy is unending and overwhelming as Federal Government fulfilled it promises to refund monies for roads previously constructed by Rivers State Government. It shows President Buhari led Federal Government is concerned about the plight of its citizens.

He said, “ I am using this opportunity to appeal to His Excellency Chief Barr E.N Wike the Executive Governor  of Rivers State to consider the construction of Horo-Gbene-ue- Botem_ internal road in allocating  the fund. That this road have not been worked since the existence of the community. As the only assessable road to the community. During  the rainy season Gbene-ue community is cutoff and the only primary school in the community is abandoned as teachers finds it extremely difficult to cross the road due to flood water and reptiles that settled in it. No vehicle can ever drive through it and these has made live worthless for  the people of Gbene-ue Tai”.

He added that the construction of the road would make  Gbene-ue community have a sense of belonging in the state.
