Former students and family members of unpaid primary /secondary school teachers of Rivers State owned tertiary institutions have staged a peaceful protest over their five years unpaid salary arrears.
The protesters who were seen with placards matched to the State Assembly on Moscow Road and Government House to register their anger.
The chairman, Rivers State Civil Society Organisations, Enefaa Georgewill who led the protesters spoke on their behalf, calling on the State Assembly and the Government to pay them their five years salary.
Georgewill said some teachers have died while some are facing illness as a result of their unpaid salary.
He called on the state Government to obey the court order that was given in favour of the teachers.
Meanwhile, receiving the protesters at the State House of Assembly, the Clerk of the House, Stanford Oba promised to deliver the letter and the court judgements of the protesters to the leadership of the house.
