The South-South caucus of House of Representatives has kicked against the proposed two points five per cent to be given to the host communities from the oil production operating cost and is demanding 10 per cent to the host communities.
In a communique issued at the end of its retreat on the Petroleum Industry Bill in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, the South-South lawmakers, also insisted on the relocation of the international oil companies to their area of operations and the unbundling of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
Earlier, Governor Udom Emmanuel, represented by his deputy, Moses Ekpo, charged them to ensure that the interest of host communities is protected.
The minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu had earlier spoken on the dangers of not passing the PIB.
