The Rivers State chapter of the Traditional Rulers of Oil Mineral Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON) says it affirmed the 10 per cent host communities fund as advocated by the South South Governors’ Forum.
TROMPCON Chairman in Rivers State, His Royal Majesty, King Dr Samuel Ndiwe Amaechi who disclosed the position of the body in Port Harcourt, said the host Communities could have improved living conditions with 10 per cent in the bill.
Lamenting the present condition faced by oil host Communities, the TROMPCON boss regretted that while crude remains the economic life wire of the nation, abject poverty, diseases and economic destruction remain the lot of the people from whose land crude is gotten from.
He said that time has come for Nigeria to emulate other oil producing nations of the world and be fair to her oil host Communities, stressing that such could guarantee harmonious relationship between the Communities and oil companies.
King Amaechi who is also the Onye Ishi Agwuru Igboh Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area urged the National Assembly to do the needful by reviewing the host Community Fund to 10 per cent.
