Burna Boy’s Homecomig: Wike’s gifts to artists divide internet

Gifts presented to Grammy Award winning artist, Burna Boy at his homecoming by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the extension of financial favours to other artists who performed at the event have got the Internet talking.

Wike had in an appreciation speech, given Burna Boy the second highest honour in the state, Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State. He also gifted the Ahoada-West indigene a land at the Old GRA, adding that the state government will provide him with funds to build on the land.

The artists who performed that night, including Timaya, Duncan Mighty and Bukwild were not left out as they were given ten million naira each.

However, the magnanimity of the governor has caused stir on the Internet with divided opinions, especially over the decision of another artist, Dandizzy to boycott the event over low appearance fee.

Dandizzy reportedly boycotted the show over a paltry three hundred thousand appearance fee offered by the organizers.

At the announcement of the ten million naira largesse, many internet users went to town criticizing Dandizzy for missing out on a big opportunity to be 10 million naira richer. While many said he was greedy to have rejected the government fee, others clapped for him for turning down the offer as they argued that the three hundred thousand offered him was too small for his value.
