Rivers United GM tasks u-15 to go for gold in NPFL/La Liga tournament

General Manager of Rivers United FC Dr Okey Kpalukwu has charged the players and technical crew of the club’s U-15 side to ensure they do not let the good people of Rivers state down as they kick start their campaign in 2021 NPFL/LA LIGA U-15 future promises tournament in Enugu.

The annual championship, which is a product of the five-year partnership of the League Management Company (LMC) which organizes the NPFL and the Spanish League Board (LFP) which organizes the La Liga, is taking place in the coal city of Enugu with the U-15s of sixteen of NPFL’s twenty clubs in participation.

Shortly before the commencement of the opening day affairs, the announcement was made of the withdrawal of the quartet of Sunshine Stars, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Wikki Tourists, and Nasarawa United for varying reasons.

Okey Kpalukwu gave this charge in Port Harcourt shortly before the team’s departure to Enugu.

He told the players to be brave and approach every match with vigour as they have the backing of the management of the team and the Rivers State Government.

“I know you are well prepared for this tournament. Be rest assured that you have our backing and that of the Rivers State Government. Go to Enugu and make us all proud.” Kpalukwu said

“No team should be underestimated. No team should be underrated. We are the “Pride of Rivers” and we will continue to work hard to ensure we win and bring the trophy back with us to Port Harcourt.” Dr Kpalukwu concluded.

Rivers United U-15 team will battle defending champions Katsina United in their Group C opener at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.

The tournament will end on May 2.
