Rivers: DELGA chairman-elect promises better deals for the people

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, Sunday, declared the chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon.  Michael John Williams winner of the April 17th chairmanship elections in Degema Local Government Area.

Michael John Williams, who emerged winner of the LG elections following the declaration of the results by the electoral umpire, pulled a total of 21,159 votes to beat his closest rivals of the Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) who pulled 913 and 502 respectively.

According to the results declared by the chairman of the Commission, Justice George Omereji, (Rtd), at the RSIEC State office in Port Harcourt, the ruling PDP also won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats across the 23 LGAs of the State.

Speaking with newsmen after his declaration, the newly elected Council Chairman of Delga, Hon. Michael John Williams thanked the people of Degema LGA for reposing their confidence in him by voting massively for the PDP.

While also expressing gratitude to God, he assured that his administration would work round the clock to ensure that democratic dividends get to the people at the grassroots.
