Delta police nabs suspected serial kidnapper

Special Anti-kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKCCS) operatives of the Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, identified as Akpos James A.K.A General at Abaraka area of the state.

In a press statement released Saturday, by the state’s police spokesperson, CSP Bright Odafe, the suspect, James, who hails from Ekeremor LGA, Bayelsa State, was arrested in connection with the killing of policemen at an eatery in Ughelli on the 10th of January,2021.

It was revealed that, the suspect have been involved in several kidnapping/armed robbery within Abraka, Warri, Ughelli and Sapele environs.

Upon interrogation, suspect gave useful Information that led to a raid at Bomadi waterside, where other members of his gang were engaged in a gun battle.

Some members of the gang escaped with various degrees of gun shot injuries into the river, while two Ak47 rifles, one hundred and fourteen rounds of 7.62 ammunition with six magazines were recovered from the raid.

He added that a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing and also enjoined the public to help the police with any useful information that will lead to their arrest.

He further assured them, that their identity will be treated with high level of confidentiality.
